Book Report

December 1st, 2009 by mysm2000 in Reading · 21 Comments

Students are to visit the blog site,

http://bookreport.edublogs.org/

Choose one of the titles listed there that you haven’t read.  Read it through carefully and think about whether it is a book you’d like to read based on the other grade 5 student’s write-up. Add a comment to that particular write-up stating:

what sounds good about the book,

whether you’ve read other books by the same author,

or a similar theme book by a different author,

if you would recommend them, and

one thing you liked about that student’s book report (a particular phrase, the event he talked about, the way he sounds enthusiastic about the book, etc.)

Then, leave a comment for our post for this assignment saying, if you think reading book reports from other blogs will give you ideas for your own reading and why or why not.  (Make your reason “substantive”.)

Remembrance Day 2009

November 11th, 2009 by mysm2000 in Uncategorized · 4 Comments

Our class took part in our Remembrance Day ceremony today.  We researched the flags of countries our parents or ancestors came from and talked about lots of symbols for peace.  Ten members of the class did a dance of the T’ai Chi movement called “White Crane cools His Wings” but we just called it the Crane Dance.  What did you do for Remembrance Day?
